Honomanū Bay sits around Mile 14, a black-sand and boulder cove notched into the windward cliffs between the Garden of Eden and the Keʻanae Peninsula. It's scenic and usually empty on weekdays but the practical realities make it a stop most travelers skip.

Reaching the beach means a steep, often muddy dirt road with potholes that drops roughly half a mile to the shore. It's rough enough to be hard on a standard rental car, and conditions worsen after rain.

The bay has strong rip currents, a rocky bottom, and submerged boulders, and swimming isn't recommended. Given how many stops fill a Hāna day, the best idea is to enjoy the views of the bay from above on the drive back where there is a pullout to take photos.
